Penn Township, Lancaster County – The church wanted to construct an entirely new sanctuary and greatly expand the space available for Sunday School classes by constructing a 72,000 sq.ft. addition to their main building. They also wanted to more than double the size of their activity center building by adding a 20,000 sq.ft. addition to provide for larger events such as concerts, etc. This growth also resulted in the need for an additional 300 parking spaces. The project was made more complex by the desire of the church to do the improvements in multiple phases, the presence of wetlands which reduced the available area for parking, the large amount of existing infrastructure the new facilities needed to connect with, and significant road improvements required along Penryn Road. Diehm worked extensively with the church’s building committee, its architect and the general contractor throughout the design process and construction to resolve these challenges and allow the church to move ahead with these needed improvements.
